Saxony receives 181 million euros from the federal government for the expansion of all-day facilities in elementary school and after-school care centers. The new federal government has extended the investment program for the expansion of all-day education and childcare services for children of primary school age and is providing a total of 3.5 billion euros for this purpose. Saxony has been funding 543 projects through the program for four years.
"This is a smart decision and an important signal. The federal government is thus making it clear that it stands by its promises and that the promised funds can also be invested," emphasized Minister of Education Conrad Clemens (CDU).
In Saxony, funding is provided via the All-Day Investments Directive. New builds, conversions, extensions and renovations are eligible for funding. Due to extensive planning and staff shortages, there was uncertainty as to whether the funded measures could be completed by the end of 2027. In the coalition agreement, the CDU, CSU and SPD therefore agreed to extend the program by a further two years.
