In Saxony, fewer school leavers have achieved the dream grade of 1.0 this year. While there were 402 such A-graduates last year, there are now 353, according to the Ministry of Education. This included almost twice as many young women as men. They were honored in Dresden's Frauenkirche for their outstanding graduation - including with an honorary plaque made of Meissen porcelain and a book voucher.
"The Abitur is the highest general education qualification. To achieve 1.0 here is something very special," explained Minister of Education Conrad Clemens (CDU). The teachers also played a large part in this success. Because they prepared the pupils for the exams. "They not only pass on knowledge, but also motivate and support the young people to reach their full potential. I would like to say a big thank you for that!"
