A spontaneous concert in the cultural capital of Chemnitz has had repercussions for the band Kraftklub. According to a spokeswoman for the city of Chemnitz, a fine has been imposed on the band's management. Several media outlets had previously reported that the reason was a lack of or inadequate security concept.
According to police regulations, events must be registered two weeks to five months in advance, depending on the expected number of visitors. The free surprise concert on May 28 was attended by several thousand people. According to police regulations, such an offence carries a fine of between 5 and a maximum of 5,000 euros.
Kraftklub, who are known as a very political band, had sharply criticized planned cuts in the cultural and social sectors on the evening and also announced their new album "Sterben in Karl-Marx-Stadt". It is due to be released on November 28.
