The Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kreuzchor are regarded as musical ambassadors for their home city. Now both institutions are guests in renowned concert halls elsewhere.

The Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kreuzchor will perform together in Hamburg and Munich. With Mozart's "Requiem" and works by Arvo Pärt, the two institutions under the direction of Kreuzkantor Martin Lehmann want to set a musical sign for the anniversary of the end of the war in 1945, the two ensembles announced. Beforehand, the program will be performed this Friday and Saturday at the Kulturpalast in Dresden. In Hamburg, the Elbphilharmonie will be the performance venue on 19 May, in Munich the cultural center Gasteig HP8 one day later.

The Estonian composer Arvo Pärt is celebrating his 90th birthday this year. Part of the program is therefore dedicated to him. Individual parts of the Mozart "Requiem" will be broken up and presented alternately with compositions by Pärt that correspond in sound with Mozart's work, it was said.
