Bundesliga club RB Leipzig will start the coming season with a new women's coach. As the promoted club announced on Thursday, Saban Uzun's contract, which expires at the end of June, will not be extended. The "detailed analysis during the current cup and international break" led to this decision. Talks with potential successors are to begin soon.
Leipzig are currently ninth in the women's Bundesliga and are four points clear of relegation after 17 of 22 matchdays. The 36-year-old Uzun took over the team in July 2022 and led them into the Bundesliga. "We had different ideas about the future direction and further development of the team," said sporting director Viola Odebrecht.
